This past weekend the 25th Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards Weekend was held in Nipawin, Saskatchewan and it turned out to be a big one for Codie Prevost.
Prevost received awards for “Entertainer of the Year” and “Male Vocalist of the Year” giving him both titles for six years running and was also honoured with the 2014 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Achievement Award.
The SCMA is an organization that strives to showcase, and promote talented musicians in the province of Saskatchewan in an effort to broadcast that talent across the globe. Codie appreciates the awards and recognition the SCMA have given to him.
Prevost was thrilled to share the moment with so many that have helped him throughout his career along with his family who were in attendance.
“I feel so fortunate to be where I’m at in my career and to share these moments with all the people who surround me. I started my career in Aylsham, Saskatchewan in a recording studio with Rory & Angie Gray, and Alain Leblanc. I joined the SCMA when I was very young and had my first opportunity to showcase with a full band at the SCMA weekend in Prince Albert in 2004. Without these opportunities I would not be where I’m at today. I thank the SCMA, my team, my fans, and my family for such amazing support. What an incredible journey it has been so far. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Some of Prevost’s team were also recognized over the weekend with Alain Leblanc receiving the “Manager of the Year” and “Bass Player of the Year” awards, and drummer, Hal Schrenk taking home the “Drummer of the Year” award.
Prevost has won a total of 24 Saskatchewan Country Music Awards and is the first artist to have been named SCMA “Entertainer of the Year” six years in a row.
