Prevost Wins Big!

CodiePrevost_Someday_BTS003 copy copyThis past weekend the 25th Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards Weekend was held in Nipawin, Saskatchewan and it turned out to be a big one for Codie Prevost.
Prevost received awards for “Entertainer of the Year” and “Male Vocalist of the Year” giving him both titles for six years running and was also honoured with the 2014 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Achievement Award.
The SCMA is an organization that strives to showcase, and promote talented musicians in the province of Saskatchewan in an effort to broadcast that talent across the globe. Codie appreciates the awards and recognition the SCMA have given to him.
Prevost was thrilled to share the moment with so many that have helped him throughout his career along with his family who were in attendance.
“I feel so fortunate to be where I’m at in my career and to share these moments with all the people who surround me. I started my career in Aylsham, Saskatchewan in a recording studio with Rory & Angie Gray, and Alain Leblanc. I joined the SCMA when I was very young and had my first opportunity to showcase with a full band at the SCMA weekend in Prince Albert in 2004. Without these opportunities I would not be where I’m at today. I thank the SCMA, my team, my fans, and my family for such amazing support. What an incredible journey it has been so far. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Some of Prevost’s team were also recognized over the weekend with Alain Leblanc receiving the “Manager of the Year” and “Bass Player of the Year” awards, and drummer, Hal Schrenk taking home the “Drummer of the Year” award.
Prevost has won a total of 24 Saskatchewan Country Music Awards and is the first artist to have been named SCMA “Entertainer of the Year” six years in a row.

Canadian Beats “All Kinds Of Crazy” Album Review

"All Kinds Of Crazy" Autographed 8X10By: Jenna Melanson

Album – All Kinds of Crazy
Release Date – March 1, 2014
Genre – Country
Label – Unsigned

Codie Prevost is a multi-award winning & three time Canadian Country Music Association nominee that is releasing his 4th studio album, “All Kinds of Crazy” on March 1, 2014.

I was approached to do a pre-release review of his upcoming album, and jumped at the chance, as I was a fan of his previous album, “Get Loud”. “All Kinds of Crazy” is sure to be a hit album. It was recorded at the Armoury Studios & Studio Downe Under in Vancouver with producer, Tom McKillip, and mixed by Scott Cooke.

The album consists of eight “soon to be hit” country songs, including the latest single, “Someday” which is a song that is about getting through difficult times and making the best of it, having hope it will get better. This song has a very inspiration feel, which seems to be becoming a huge trend in the music industry, and for good reason. Music should be able to speak to the listener and in this case, I can see the song helping people through their own hard times.

The fourth song on the album, “Say My Name” is a fun love song that makes you want to sing along to the catchy lyrics. Codie does a great job at both ends of the spectrum, whether it’s a slower, inspirational song, or a fun upbeat song. I wouldn’t hesitate to say that this song could be a huge hit for Codie.

The final song that I want to touch on is the final song on the album, entitled “Last Night All Day”. The song tells a story, which is quite common in country music, but the difference is, you feel like you’re there listening to him telling you about his night. The lyrics are fun and easy to sing along to, such as “I had to call you up, just to let you know I’ve been thinking about last night, all day.” This is my favourite from the album.

In conclusion, the album is expertly put together. Each song has the potential to be the next country hit, and I can picture them being played on the beach in the summer, around bonfires, anywhere where people are hanging out, having a good times, and just want to relax and have a good time. I highly recommend you check out Codie Prevost, you won’t regret it.

I am excited to announce I had the opportunity of being a guest blogger on Dan Thiessens new blog site! Here is a preview of the post. Click the bloggerthoughts link at the bottom to read the full blog post!

On the “Imagine No Bullying” tour we performed to over 3500 students in just 7 shows in December and the response was incredible. We wrote a song called “Let Love Conquer All” that we closed each show with and I recall one email from a young student saying that the song saved his life. It was emails like this that let us know we were on the right path to making a change. We are planning the tour again for 2014 and cannot wait to bring the presentation to many more schools and students.
